Emily and Tim’s Wedding – Seattle, Washington

February 15th, 2013

Emily and Tim celebrated their wedding at the Great Hall at Green Lake in Seattle, Washington. They incorporated many details handmade by themselves and by friends and family including Tim’s Kilt suit (made by Sew Smooth - where you can also acquire a tie for your cat) and Emily’s traditional German dress made by her friend. Rockets and bats were featured in the decor and outfits. Guests were asked to dress as their ancestors would and there was a formal tea service before the ceremony as guests arrived.

Anne and Jake’s Wedding Celebration – Seattle, Washington

September 23rd, 2010

Anne and Jake eloped on the Hood Canal in Washington this past July in a private ceremony, and held a party for friends and family in Normandy Park, a suburb of Seattle.  Anne is the daughter of my mother’s cousin, which makes her my second cousin.  My earliest memories are of a trip my family took to Seattle and Vancouver to visit Anne’s family when I was about two or three (more specifically – I remember the Steam Clocks in Vancouver, BC).  My parents, sister, brother in law and niece Rylee were all at the party.

The celebration was catered by Anne’s former volleyball coach and English teacher John who now is the co-owner of St. Clouds restaurant.

Anne had a brunch with some of her girlfriends and sent them out into the Pike Place Market to buy the bouquets for the centerpieces.  That is my cute niece Rylee above right; she is excited to meet her cousin soon – Jake and Anne are expecting their first child in a few months!

Jake gave two really touching toasts; in the first he had something to say about every single person at the party.  The guests migrated out to the beach to watch a spectacular sunset which included pink clouds.  Jake’s second toast was all about Anne and was really sweet.

The complete set of Anne and Jake’s photographs will be available for viewing and ordering prints soon.  You can sign up here to be notified by email when they are ready.

Coffee, Volunteer Park Cafe – Seattle, Washington

September 9th, 2010

I love my coffee – and I often take photographs of it.  I prefer it black and strong – the Volunteer Park Cafe in Seattle’s Capitol Hill Neighborhood brews a nice cup to go with their delicious goodies (not pictured – already consumed!).

Melissa and Bryce currently live in Salt Lake City, but had their wedding outside of Seattle, Washington where their roots are planted.  Summer weather in Seattle is usually gorgeous and the weather for the wedding day did not disappoint.

Bryce, his twin brother Tyler and his sister Allison are of native Hawaiian descent; Allison performed a beautiful traditional Hawaiian dance for Bryce and Melissa before the more common first dance and father/daughter dances.

Bryce and Melissa enjoyed a honeymoon close to home on Vancouver Island, BC after the wedding.  They recommended the Maltby Cafe for breakfast which I enjoyed the next morning – a nice big breakfast hits the spot for me the day after all the effort I put in to photographing a wedding.  I spent a few more days in Seattle visiting a friend – we worked in Cafes during the day and enjoyed the food, drink and nightlife of Seattle in the evenings.  I actually got a lot of work done those two days – it must have been that good coffee that Seattle is famous for.
