August 20th, 2009

Stacey and Josh were married at the Lakeside Meadow at Log Haven, in Mill Creek Canyon east of Salt Lake City, Utah.  They were both were both on cloud nine before the ceremony; I had to show them a picture on my lcd screen to prove to them that it was actually happening!  They were also really excited about their photography.

The meadow looked fantastic in all of it’s green summer glory.  After the ceremony, everyone headed down the canyon to The Market Street Grill in Cottonwood Heights for the reception.

I loved the outdoor patio at the Market Street Grill – it was a perfect spot for a party on this mild summer evening.  Stacey and Josh’s first dance was timed just right for the twilight.  I was lucky to have Erin helping me out as a second shooter.

Anne and Roy’s Engagement Session – 11th Avenue Park, Salt Lake City, Utah

August 11th, 2009

I had a very casual engagement shoot with Anne and Roy up at the 11th Avenue Park in the Avenues neighborhood of Salt Lake City.  Anne and Roy chose this spot because they have spent many evenings playing bocce ball here.

I managed to win one round of bocce, although I found it tricky to play bocce, drink a beer and concentrate on the photographs at the same time.  It was a typical beautiful summer evening overlooking the city – even on the hottest days the air cools off nicely as soon as the sun goes down.

Anne and Roy’s wedding will be at Deer Valley, Utah in September.  I love their honeymoon plans – after the wedding they will head north with no particular itinerary.  Family and friends can see more pictures and order prints here.

Melissa and Bryce’s Engagement Session – Shoreline Trail, Salt Lake City, Utah

August 4th, 2009

I took a twilight walk on the shoreline trail with Melissa, Bryce, and their golden retriever Cedar for their engagement session.  Melissa and Bryce will be having their wedding in Seattle later this month.  These were all shot just after the sun set so the colors were gorgeous.  This only happens once a day in Salt Lake City :)

Melissa is in her final year of residency for pediatrics, and Bryce is an engineer; he is starting a new company with his brother making backcountry snowboard and ski bindings.

Salt Lake City is a great place for these two because they love outdoor sports like skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking.  The shoot would not be complete without a few mountain biking shots.

Rachel & Otto’s Wedding – Mill Creek Inn, Salt Lake City, Utah

August 2nd, 2009

Rachel and Otto tied the knot up at the Mill Creek Inn east of Salt Lake City, Utah a couple weekends ago.  Family and friends came to town from all over the country to celebrate up in the mountains on a perfect sunny day.  Salt Lake City can be very hot durning the summer, so the canyons and mountains are the best places for outdoor weddings.

Allison and the staff at the Mill Creek Inn served up a tasty and beautifully presented menu.  It was one of the best wedding meals I can remember.  During our short break, my assistant Jen and I split up and sampled the Utah Red Trout with mascarpone polenta and the Buffalo Tournedos Rossini with seared foie gras and garlic veal demi-glace.  The flowers by Roots and music by Jay Lawrence and his band added to the great ambiance of this long mid summer evening.  I love wedding receptions that are held outside with no tent or roof overhead – you can often get away with that in Utah.
