When I got to Madison, Wisonsin, the economy car I rented turned out to be a Volkswagon Beetle! It was a lot of fun on the winding roads and rolling hills!

I got a phone call only a couple of weeks before Heather and Hans’ wedding from Sarah, a good friend of my wife Leah’s from college. Her sister in law Heather had just decided to get married in Wisconsin the day after a large family gathering they were having. Heather and Hans just recently re-located to Alaska so it made more sense for them to have an intimate wedding with family. I am so glad I was available to fly out and do the photography! It was my first time to Wisconsin and it was beautiful!

Heather’s family donated a piece of beautiful prairie land in Barneveld to the Nature Conservancy a few years ago, and this is where the wedding ceremony was held. I was able to do a nice portrait session with Heather and Hans out in the fields there before the ceremony. I loved the simple beauty of this place.

I had a wonderful time with Heather and Hans’ families over the weekend – it was a very small wedding so I think I met everyone that was there. I also enjoyed some of Wisconsin’s fine beers! See more pictures in the slideshow.

Here are some pictures from the river trip I took with some friends at the end of April. We floated down Labyrinth Canyon on the Green River for four days. The paddling was very mellow for the most part and we all had a great time. I enjoyed having some time to take photographs in the desert!

On our fourth night we all took sun showers with our surplus water. Everyone was feeling relatively clean so I took a group portrait, dogs and all. We ate very well every day – that night we had grilled ahi tuna and pineapple over a green salad.
